Epworth GP Liaison Unit has recently formed a GP Advisory Group for general practice representatives to provide information and advice on Epworth’s GP education program and communications.
The key functions of the GP Advisory Group is to ensure Epworth’s GP education program is relevant and meets the learning needs of GPs; help strengthen the relationship between Epworth and general practitioners to enhance patient care; and provide expert advice on the content of Epworth’s GP newsletter and online communications.
The advisory group has representation from eight GPs from metro and rural practices with different interests and expertise. All members were in attendance at the group’s first meeting held on Monday 29 September at Epworth’s corporate office in Richmond.
Dr Peter Sherwen (GP Advisor) chaired the meeting with Epworth GP Liaison unit team members Jenny Jones (Manager), Fiona Scoullar (GP Education) and Kimberley Furness (GP Communications) also in attendance. Guest speaker was Epworth Executive Director, Academic and Medical, Prof John Catford.
The key findings for the recent GP needs assessment was presented and discussed, along with other topics including discharge summaries and referrals to specialists and Epworth services.
The group will formally meet four times a year with the next meeting scheduled for early December 2014.
The GP Liaison Unit would like to thank all its members for their attendance and we look forward to working together.
