The Enhance program is an eight week group program for women who have completed or are close to completing their active treatment for breast cancer. The program aims to help participants process their diagnosis and treatment, and plan for the future.
Participants may have additional individual therapy to complement the group program where needed. The overarching focus of the group is living well after cancer.
Each week there is a one hour exercise session followed by an education hour facilitated by a member of the multidisciplinary team.
Topics within the education component include:
- latent effects
- return to previous activity
- resources and supports
- emotional health
- body image
- sexual intimacy
- planning for the future.
Previous participants have identified the important role of sharing their stories and spending time with others who understand their experiences. Often the best education comes from the discussion and support of the participants themselves. Eight weeks post program the participants are invited back to review and reconnect. The review provides an opportunity to revisit goals and provide further support if required. We often find that many participants have maintained the connections introduced through their participation in the program.
Participants may attend at Epworth Camberwell or Epworth Hawthorn. They can be funded through private health hospital insurance with minimal to no out of pocket expense.
Patients do not require extras cover to access our programs.
